The aim of the Photochemical Dynamics Group is to contribute to the advancement of solar energy conversion science and technology through fundamental research. Efforts focus in particular on scrutinizing the mechanisms and dynamics of light-induced electron transfer and charge separation at donor-acceptor heterojunctions and in supramolecular assemblies.

Systems currently under study include photo-anodes employed in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs), planar and bulk heterojunctions found in small molecule-based organic photovoltaics (OPV) and hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite solar cells, as well as powdered and nanostructured films applied as photocatalysts for water splitting,

Ultrafast laser spectroscopy techniques, including broad-band transient absorption and fluorescence upconversion, electro-modulated differential absorption (time-resolved Stark effect), and time-resolved THz spectroscopies, are our main methods of investigation.
